Mtutuzeli Matshoba (born 1950) is a South African writer associated with the Black Consciousness Movement. Matshoba was born in 1950 in Soweto, and attended primary school in Mzimhlope, Orlando. It was here that he first encountered evidence of the physical atrocities committed by the Apartheid state, and began to question its validity.
